In this week’s interview, we have the pleasure of introducing you to Susanne Schutz, Chinese Metaphysics Master and CEO of Suzhong Consulting.
Susanne founded Suzhong Consulting in 2014. The company was born out of her awareness of the need for a more professionally based Chinese Metaphysics consulting service. Having lived and worked in Asia for three decades, and with extensive knowledge of business cultures in both Europe and Asia, Susanne felt that Chinese Metaphysics was missing something.
Suzhong Consulting bridges the gap between local Chinese Metaphysics Masters who rarely explain their practices and procedures, and cosmopolitan clients who prefer a more modern and adaptive approach, and who want a deeper understanding and rationale for the remedies presented.
Let’s start with the timeless 60 seconds ‘elevator pitch’, what’s yours?
I am uniquely positioned in my level of both business experience and Chinese Metaphysics mastery, having studied with Grandmaster Dato Joey Yap and holding four Masters Degrees in Chinese Metaphysics. Suzhong Consulting is the only agency of its kind in Hong Kong to provide detailed audits, reports and services in English and at an exceptionally high standard.
I work closely with my clients, and through detailed consultations, determine their goals. I then expertly carry out my discipline, before providing a full and detailed written report. With every service, I take a no-nonsense approach, providing the reasoning and context for the remedies and suggestions. Crucially, I get results.
At one point or another, it is inevitable that challenges will pop up in business. What’s your approach to overcoming challenges?
Challenges propel me forward and compel me to try even harder to succeed. There are plenty of challenges in my industry – it is dominated by old Chinese men, and I’m obviously the polar opposite of that. When people doubt me and my expertise, I let my work speak for itself.
Sales and marketing are two very important, but different, functions within a business. What is your number one sales tip?
Don’t try the hard sell, it makes you look desperate. Let word of mouth do the sales work for you.
It is important to celebrate your achievements, particularly during the difficult times. How do you celebrate your achievements?
I celebrate with friends and I tell myself that I have every reason to be proud of myself.
Being in business is like an education in itself, what are the three most important lessons you’ve learned in your business?
Lesson 1: Every client teaches me just as much as I teach them.
Lesson 2: I’m stronger than I ever thought I was.
Lesson 3: Passion for what you do will see you through every challenge.

‘Qimen Dunjia Sun Tsu Warcraft’ by Dato Joey Yap (a book specific to the industry Susanne is in)
