In this week’s interview, we have the pleasure of introducing you to Peann Tam, Business Development Director of Eco-Greenergy.
Before Peann started her business, she was a Human Resources Information System Analyst. She love that job but just find it a bit too distant from the social problems in the community. In 2013, Peann started exploring opportunities to incorporate the social mission with her career. By chance, she comes into an entrepreneurship competition which focuses on business ideas solving social issues. She formed a small team and applied in the area of environmental protection. In 2014, they won the final round of the competition and started the journey of Eco-Greenergy with a batch of seed money.

At one point or another, it is inevitable that challenges will pop up in business. What’s your approach to overcoming challenges?
Stay calm and remind myself why I started. Understand thoroughly the root cause of the problem, break down the problem into smaller pieces and then tackle them one by one.
Sales and marketing are two very important, but different, functions within a business. What is your number one sales tip?
Product and service quality always comes as the first priority. No matter how strong the marketing strategy is, continuous sales can only last for products/ services that sound.

Google. From the tools of Gmail, Calendar, Tasks, Google Business Profile, Google Analytics, Google Form, Google Sheet, Google Drive to Google Map etc, all these tools have played an important role to facilitate my work and enhance productivity.
It is important to celebrate your achievements, particularly during the difficult times. How do you celebrate your achievements?
For individual achievements, take a breathe and enjoy a cup of coffee. For team achievements, gather and have a little party with good food and wine.
Being in business is like an education in itself, what are the three most important lessons you’ve learned in your business?
Lesson 1: Only people with mission and vision aligned with those of the organization can make the organization grow and develop further.
Lesson 2: Sustainability is a life-learning subject around the world. What we do now may not bring along immediate global impact, but for sure these play a role in the process of making the environment a better place to live in. Never underestimate the impact of our work.
Lesson 3: Stay positive and passionate regardless of the challenges we face. Only positive energy will bring along resolution ideas.
