In this week’s interview, we have the pleasure of introducing you to Molly Carter, Founder of Swoop Lifestyle.

Molly worked in Real Estate for six years in New Zealand and Hong Kong. She has a Diploma in Interior Design and a Diploma in Arts & Media. When Molly started Real Estate she always wanted to bring a holistic approach to the whole process with Interior Design knowledge and market knowledge. During the COVID19 pandemic, she decided it was time to pivot towards the design aspect of her skills.

Being in Hong Kong with Covid and living in small apartments, it has always been a challenge to keep clutter to a minimum while having a stylish and functional space. Overseas it has become very popular to declutter your space, it really is something that hasn’t been utilised in Hong Kong yet, with small spaces it is a place that could benefit from our services.

Let’s start with the timeless 60 seconds ‘elevator pitch’, what’s yours?

We have a skilled team of organisers to Swoop into your home. We provide sustainable bamboo lids, durable glass jars and create custom labels to reorganise your space. We have curated sets for every space of your home to reorganise your space on your own or you can arrange for our team to come to your home. We believe having a clear space and a clear mind allows you to think and act with purpose. We offer a 30minute free consultation prior to all home organisations.

At one point or another, it is inevitable that challenges will pop up in business. What’s your approach to overcoming challenges?

My husband and I work together closely in keeping me on track, I feel that having a sound board to play ideas off helps with keeping in line with my brand ethos and direction. It is always great to have someone to sound board off that may see a different perspective or new ideas, when it is late to proof read ensure that there is consistency in branding and communication to clients & customers.

Sales and marketing are two very important, but different, functions within a business. What is your number one sales tip?

It is important to show clients how you add value to their life. If you can provide a service that is professional and can improve their lifestyle then you will have happy clients that will share with their network.

What is your favourite business tool or system?

Shopify & Excel – they both keep me in check with inventory and building a solid client database.

It is important to celebrate your achievements, particularly during the difficult times. How do you celebrate your achievements?

Our achievements are directly communicated to clients. With Swoops’ success and achievements, we can grow further in providing the best service and products.

Being in business is like an education in itself, what are the three most important lessons you’ve learned in your business?

Lesson 1: Listen to what your clients say objectively, they might see something you may not have that you can grow from.​​

Lesson 2: Always have a smile!

Lesson 3: Small business owners are a supportive network especially during current times.

What business-related book or podcast has inspired you the most?

When I moved to Hong Kong and was starting in my career I was gifted the book ‘Lean In’ encouraging women to lean in and be leaders. ‘Grit’ is also a great book, it encourages that no matter how talented you are if you work hard and are talented hard work and perseverance are a recipe for success.

The purpose of such an interview is to promote your business. Please tell us, who is your dream client?

My dream client is someone who has a very messy space so we can show off our skills and products to transform their space to be organised and efficient.
