In this week’s interview, we have the pleasure of introducing you to Angela Hancock, Founder of Bust-A-Rut.

Angela wanted to release 10 sticky pounds which she just couldn’t seem to shift, no matter how clean she was eating or how much exercise she did.  At the age of 43, she kind of resigned to the fact that she had passed her peak and it was all downhill from there.  Her friend introduced her to a system that had worked for her and although Angela was skeptical at first, she never looked back, that was over 6 years ago, and she’s so glad that she was open enough to try it because she feels better now as she’s about to turn 50, than she did 10 years ago.

Let’s start with the timeless 60 seconds ‘elevator pitch’, what’s yours?

After experiencing my own amazing transformation from feeling fat, frumpy and frustrated, I am passionate about helping other women in their 40s who have struggled with weight and body issues as I did break those chains and discover just how good they can feel in their own skin: energised, vital and with a renewed lust for life.   Through Bust-A-Rut, I combine my experience with my nutritional system to provide a holistic experience which covers meal planning, movement, and mindset.

At one point or another, it is inevitable that challenges will pop up in business. What’s your approach to overcoming challenges?

I see challenges as opportunities to learn and a way to learn more skills… as the very wise Jim Rohn once said, “Don’t wish for it to be easier, wish you were better”… or something along those lines.

What is your favourite business tool or system?

My company has so many wonderful IT systems and processes that are so easy to use and plug into, but it’s the community of leaders and mentors that share their experience and time which I find most valuable.  It’s rare to find a community that really does genuinely pour belief into you every day.

It is important to celebrate your achievements, particularly during the difficult times. How do you celebrate your achievements?

Our team celebrates each other, my wins are generally when my clients have success: when I hit a goal in my company, the company tends to reward me, but personally,  if I hit a goal, the way I reward myself is usually by spending extra time doing something I love, at the moment, it’s gardening!

Being in business is like an education in itself, what are the three most important lessons you’ve learned in your business?

Consistency is key… you have to keep showing up, no matter how you feel, but I guess that’s the same in any aspect of life where you wish for success.  Progress is progress, no matter how slow or small the steps may be, and that everything happens for a reason, so try to look beyond what’s happened, get out of victim mode and look for the lesson… I also firmly believe that you can programme yourself to look for solutions.

What business-related book or podcast has inspired you the most?

I’ve read so many, I think one of the most pivotal for me at the time of reading was A Pocket Full of Money by David Cameron Gikandi and Bob Doyle.

The purpose of such an interview is to promote your business. Please tell us, who is your dream client?

I love working with women who are struggling with weight and body issues to help them breakthrough in the way that I was able to after suffering from a terrible relationship with food for most of my adult life. My dream would be able to reach and connect with more women, so having a platform to connect would be fantastic.
